Bio
Dennis has over 40 years of litigation experience. He has handled a broad range of litigation matters through trial and appellate review, including medical malpractice defense, business and banking disputes, premises liability claims, and serious personal injury claims. He also represents health care professionals in licensing board matters.
Prior to starting Waldrep Wall Babcock & Bailey PLLC, Dennis was a partner at Wall Babcock LLP and prior, Carruthers & Bailey, P.A., a Winston-Salem-based firm that he founded with Joseph Carruthers. Preceding that, Dennis was a partner at the law firm of Bell, Davis & Pitt in Winston-Salem. Earlier in his career, Dennis served as a law clerk to The Honorable Frank Bullock, U.S. District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina.
Dennis received a J.D. degree from the Wake Forest University School of Law and a B.A. degree in philosophy/religion from Elon College. He has been a member of the North Carolina Bar Association, including the Litigation and Health Law Sections. Additionally, Dennis is a member of the North Carolina Association of Defense Attorneys. He is a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers.

Dennis leads presentations on various risk management and malpractice issues to local hospitals and physician groups as well as physician assistant programs.
- Represented surgeons in medical malpractice litigation involving allegations of intraoperative complications resulting in serious patient injury or death.
- Defended physicians in malpractice claims alleging delayed diagnosis or treatment of medical
conditions resulting in significant injury or death. - Represented obstetricians, nurses, and other healthcare providers in high-exposure birth injury
litigation. - Advised hospital systems in responding to patient complaints, pre-suit claims, and allegations of
improper care or professional misconduct. - Counseled hospital systems and healthcare providers in the development and revision of
policies, procedures, and risk management practices designed to promote legal compliance and
mitigate liability. - Represented physicians, physician assistants, nurses, and other licensed healthcare professionals
before professional licensing boards and regulatory agencies. - Negotiated favorable resolutions of medical malpractice claims and other healthcare-related
disputes on behalf of physicians, hospitals, and healthcare providers. - Defended healthcare providers through all phases of litigation, including discovery, motion
practice, trial, and appeal.
